California Code of Regulations|§ 1 - Purpose

                                                

School buildings constructed pursuant to these rules and regulations shall be designed to resist earthquake forces generated by major earthquakes of the intensity and severity of the strongest experienced in California without catastrophic collapse, but with some repairable architectural or structural damage.3
