The Hon. Peter J. Wilson is a judge for the Superior Court of Orange County in California. He was appointed by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on February 1, 2010, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Jeffrey Sundvold.
Wilson attended Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa. He received a bachelor of commerce and a bachelor of laws.
Wilson began his legal career in South Africa as a public prosecutor with the Department of Justice of South Africa. Then, in 1980, he started working as a barrister in private practice. He specialized in criminal law, family law, personal injury law, maritime law, and civil law. Six years later, he joined Latham & Watkins in Orange County, California, where he worked as an associate. His work with Latham & Watkins focused on all aspects of business litigation. In 1992 he became a partner of Latham & Watkins, leading the Orange County Litigation Department. He was promoted to Vice President and Associate General Counsel in 2010, just before his appointment to the Superior Court of Orange County.
Wilson was born in South Africa. He was a resident of Corona Del Mar, California at the time of his appointment to the Superior Court of Orange County.
