Judge Robin L. Wilson - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Robin L. Wilson is a judge for the New Haven Judicial District Superior Court in Connecticut. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor John Rowland in 2003.

During her judicial tenure, Wilson has presided over Civil Matters in the New Haven Judicial District.

Prior to joining the bench, she was a Workers’ Compensation Commissioner, a position to which she was appointed by former Governor Lowell Weicker in March 1994.

Before that, Wilson spent eight years as an assistant attorney general in the Child Support and Workers’ Compensation Departments of the Office of the Attorney General in Connecticut. She received an appointment to the position in 1986.

Wilson received a B.A. in government from Connecticut College in 1982. She went on to complete a J.D. at Northeastern Illinois University College of Law (1985) and an LL.M. from New York University School of Law (1998).

She was elected Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation James W. Cooper Fellows Program in 2011.

Her memberships have included the New Haven County Bar Association, the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association, the Connecticut Judges Association, and the Inn of Court.

Wilson has also been involved with the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (New Haven Alumnae Chapter), the Elm City Adult Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc., the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, the Council and Court #266, the St. Martin de Porres Stewardship Council, and the City of New Haven Youth Commission.

Wilson was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut, and is a graduate of St. Mary’s High School.
