Biography

The Hon. Alan K. Cassidy is a judge for the Stanislaus County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2014. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Susan D. Siefkin (Ret.).

He is a registered Democrat.

Judge Cassidy graduated with his B.A. in political science from the University of California, Irvine in 1985. He went on to earn his J.D. from Southwestern Law School.

After law school, Cassidy began his legal career as a deputy district attorney with the Orange County District Attorney's Office, where he worked briefly, beginning in 1990.

He then entered the private sector, where he worked as an associate at the law firms of Grisez, Orenstein, and Hertle for three years, and at Perry and Wildman for four years.

In 1998, Cassidy returned to the public arena to become a senior deputy district attorney with the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office. Ten years later, Cassidy was elevated to the position of chief deputy district attorney in 2008. He would remain in that capacity until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2014.

While on the bench, Judge Cassidy has presided in the Family Law Department at the Main Courthouse in Stanislaus County.
