Biography

The Hon. Gerald A. Keene is a judge for the Tioga County Court Multi-Bench in the Sixth Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the bench in 2013. The Multi-Bench in Tioga County consists of the County, Family, and Surrogate’s Courts. During his tenure on the bench, Judge Keene has also served as the supervising judge of Broome, Chemung, Schuyler, Tioga, and Tompkins Counties.

He is a registered Republican.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Alfred University in 1977. He went on to earn his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 1980.

Prior to his election to the bench, Keene had served as the Tioga County District Attorney since being elected to the position in 1999. He first joined the Tioga County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney.

Keene supplemented his work as a prosecutor by serving as an attorney in private practice for eighteen years.

Judge Keene is a lifelong resident of Waverly, New York.
