Biography

Hon. Emmet F. Ferguson, III is a judge for the Duval County Court in the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida. He was elected to the bench in 1996.

Prior to beginning his judicial career, Ferguson spent eight years as an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit.

He received a B.S. in biology and psychology from Florida State University in 1982. Ferguson went on to complete a J.D. at Florida State University College of Law in 1988. He was admitted to practice in Florida in 1989.

Ferguson has held a membership with the Jacksonville Bar Association.

He was born in Jacksonville, Florida. When not presiding over legal matters, Ferguson enjoys surfing, fishing, hunting, and boating around the St. Johns River.
