Judge Audrey M. Moran - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Audrey M. Moran is a judge for the Duval County Court in Florida. She was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of her husband, the Hon. John A. Moran, II.

Prior to her election, Moran was the president and chief executive officer of the Sulzbacher Center, a comprehensive facility that services the unhoused men, women, and children of Northeast Florida. Before that, she was president of the Moran Mediation Group.

Moran earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Syracuse University. She then completed a J.D. at Duke University School of Law in 1984.

After graduating from law school, Moran spent time as the Director of Legislative Affairs for Ed Austin, the Mayor of Jacksonville. She also served as Chief of Staff for Mayor John Delaney. Later, she became an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit. In that capacity, she held assignments as a director of the county court, a director of the special assault unit, and a member of the homicide division.

Her memberships have included the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission, the Jacksonville Women’s Network, and the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida. She has also been involved with Project Breakthrough, the Jessie Ball DuPont Fund, and the Board of Directors of Baptist Medical Center.

A resident of Jacksonville, Florida, Moran and her husband have four children. They also have a Chocolate Lab (Coco), a German Shepherd (Mack), and a rescue cat (Comeback).
