Plaintiffs Jorge Galeano and Rosa Ramirez’s Motion to Deem Requests for Admissions Admitted as to Defendant Maribel Munoz Garcia is GRANTED. $1,634.65 in sanctions are awarded against Defendant. I MOTION TO DEEM ADMITTED “Any party may obtain discovery . . . by a written request that any other party to the action admit the genuineness of specified documents, or the truth of specified matters of fact, opinion relating to fact, or application of law to fact. A request for admission may relate to a matter that is in controversy between the parties.” (Code Civ. Proc., § 2033.010.) Ifa party fails to serve a timely response to requests for admissions, “[t]he requesting party may move for an order that the genuineness of any documents and the truth of any matters specified in the requests be deemed admitted, as well as for a monetary sanction” (Code Civ. Proc., § 2033.280 subd. (b).) Plaintiffs contend that they served requests for admission upon Defendant on September 11, 2019, and responses were due by agreement on November 4, 2019. (Statman Decl. {| 4-6.) But no responses were served, and Plaintiffs instead received notice that Defendant would henceforward be self-represented. (Statman Decl. {| 6.) Despite efforts to contact Defendant regarding the admissions, she has not responded. (Statman Decl. {| 7.) The Motion will be GRANTED if code-compliant and objection-free responses to the Requests for Admission are not provided by the hearing on this motion. Il. SANCTIONS
