Additionally, the Florida court system was reformed in 1973 and now consists of a two-tiered trial court system - county and circuit courts. Florida county courts often are referred to as “the people’s courts” as their jurisdiction is citizen disputes like misdemeanors (less serious criminal matters), traffic offenses, and disputes of small monetary value.
