ANALYSIS:CCP section 425.16 allows defendants to make a motion to strike the complaint of an alleged SLAPP (Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation) lawsuit. A SLAPP suit is one brought “primarily to chill the valid exercise of constitutional rights.” CCP section 425.16.Section 425.16 specifies that it “shall be construed broadly” to protect the constitutional right of petition and free speech and it protects a broad variety of conduct which subdivisions (b)(1) and (e) define as being any “act in furtherance of a person’s right of petition or free speech under the United States or California Constitution in connection with a public issue.” See also Braun v.
