Proc., § 683.170, subd. (a).) A judgment debtor may challenge the jurisdiction of the court to enter the original judgment, but nonjurisdictional errors are insufficient to vacate the renewal of judgment. (Goldman v. Simpson (2008) 160 Cal.App.4th 255, 261-262.) Defendant’s assertions, inter alia, that (a) his retained attorney failed to appear at a hearing in 1986 and (b) his last moment motion to continue trial in 2008 should have been granted, are insufficient to support vacating the renewal of judgment. As for the other relief requested by defendant (i.e., for appointment of counsel and for subpoena powers), defendant has not cited any legal authority for the Court to grant such relief. Motion to Compel Responses to Supplemental Discovery
On the Court’s own motion, the motion is continued to August 22, 2018 at 8:15 a.m. in Courtroom 8 to be heard along with the pending motion to be relieved as counsel and order to show cause re: sanctions.
