Judge Teresa R. Warner - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Teresa R. Warner (Ret.) served as a judge for the 2nd Judicial District Court of Minnesota. Warner was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arne Carlson on January 26, 1998. She retired on March 11, 2022, and became a senior judge for the State of Minnesota.

Warner held assignments as the Assistant Chief Judge (2012) and the Chief Judge (2012 to 2016) of the 2nd Judicial District Court.

Prior to her appointment, Warner was an assistant county attorney for the Washington County Attorney’s Office, a position to which she was named in 1988. Before that, she spent time as an associate at Jardine, Logan & O’Brien in St. Paul (1986 to 1988).

Warner earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University in 1981. She then completed a J.D. at William Mitchell College of Law in 1986. As a law student, she clerked for the Hon. W. Schultz of the 2nd Judicial District (1981 to 1983), the Ramsey County Public Defender’s Office (1983 to 1986), and Jardin, Logan & O’Brien (1986).

She is admitted to practice in Virginia (1985) and Minnesota (1986).

Her memberships have included the Minnesota District Judges Association, the Minnesota State Bar Association, and the Ramsey County Bar Association. She has also been involved with the East Side Learning Center, and she has chaired the Minnesota Judicial Branch’s Weighted Caseload Committee.
