Biography

The Hon. Maurice E. Muir is a judge for the Civil Court of the City of New York in Queens County. He was elected to the bench in 2017.

Prior to his election, Muir worked as a senior attorney for the Queens Legal Services Corp. from 2000 to 2017. During his tenure there, he represented tenants facing foreclosure and other housing issues.

Muir earned a B.A. from Boston University in 1988. Then, in 1994, he completed a J.D. at Suffolk University Law School.

His memberships have included the Queens County Bar Association and the New York State Bar.

He is registered as a Democrat.
