Judge Mark S. Blechman - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Mark S. Blechman is a judge for the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was elected to the bench in 2012 and re-elected in 2018.

The 9th Judicial Circuit encompasses Osceola County and Orange County. Blechman has held assignments in both counties, presiding over cases in the Criminal Division and the Domestic Relations Division.

Blechman earned a B.A. in criminal justice from the University of Florida in 1979. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 1981. He is Board Certified in Criminal Trial Law by the Florida Bar.

After graduating from law school, Blechman began his legal career as an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney for the 9th Judicial Circuit. He served in that capacity until 1986, at which time he entered into private practice. He started as an attorney at Lubet & Woodard. Then, in 1988, he became a partner at Lubet & Blechman. He remained with the firm for eleven years, eventually leaving to open his own private practice as a sole practitioner.

His memberships have included the Orange County Bar Association, the Osceola County Bar Association, the Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers, and the Hispanic Bar Association. He has also served as president of the Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

He is a recipient of the Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award from the Florida Supreme Court, and he was named Citizen of the Year by the Osceola County Veteran's Council.
