Judge Leonard D. Steinman - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Leonard D. Steinman is a justice for the Nassau County Supreme Court in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the bench in 2013.

Steinman earned a B.A. from Boston University in 1981. He then completed a J.D. from Albany Law School in 1984.

He began his legal career as an associate at Montclare & Guay in 1984. The following year, he left the firm and joined Rubin, Baum, Levin, Constant & Friedman. He practiced there for three years before moving to Summit, Rovins & Feldesman. Then, in 1991, he became a partner at Blank Rome.

Steinman has served as chairman of the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency as well as a board member of the Nassau County Interim Finance Authority.

He is registered as a Democrat.

Steinman was born and raised in Glen Cove, New York. He had his bar mitzvah at Congregation Tifereth Israel, the oldest continuously operating synagogue on Long Island.
