Biography

The Hon. Leonard D. Steinman is a justice on the Nassau County Supreme Court in the 10th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the bench on November 6, 2012.

Prior to his election, Steinman was a partner at Blank Rome LLP, a legal practice he joined in 1991. Before that, he spent time as an associate at Summit, Rovins & Feldesman (1988 to 1991).

Steinman earned a B.A. from Boston University in 1981. He then completed a J.D. at Albany Law School in 1984. He was licensed to practice in New York (1985).

After graduating from law school, Steinman began his legal career as an associate at Montclare & Guay. He worked in that capacity until 1985, at which time he joined Rubin, Baum, Levin, Constant & Friedman.

His memberships have included the Theodore Roosevelt American Inn of Court. He has also been involved with the Nassau County Industrial Development Authority (2010) and the Nassau County Interim Finance Authority (2010 to 2012).

Born and raised in Glen Clove, New York, Steinman held his bar mitzvah at Congregation Tifereth Israel, the oldest continuously operating synagogue on Long Island.

He is registered as a Democrat.
