Judge Kathryn R. Savage - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Kathryn R. Savage is a special judge for the Oklahoma County District Court (District 7) in Oklahoma. She joined the bench in 2017.

During her judicial tenure, Savage has presided over small claims litigation, hearing on assets, forcible entry and detainer actions, felony criminal preliminary hearings, and misdemeanor jury trials.

Prior to joining the bench, she was deputy chief assistant attorney general of the Multi-County Grand Jury Unit and the General Counsel Unit with the Office of the Oklahoma Attorney General. During that time, Savage provided legal counsel for the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, the Oklahoma Able Commission, the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission, the Oklahoma Funeral Board, and the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University. Savage went on to complete a J.D. at Oklahoma City University School of Law. She was admitted to practice in Oklahoma in 2001.

After graduating from law school, Savage began her legal career as an assistant district attorney in Oklahoma County, Muskogee County, and Pottawatomie County.

Her memberships have included the William J. Holloway Chapter of the American Inns of Court, the Oklahoma County Bar Association (Board of Directors), and the Downtown Oklahoma City Exchange Club (president).

She also sat on the Oklahoma Bar Association Law Schools Committee and acted as a High School Mock Trial Judge and scoring panelist as well as a Mock Trial Judge for the Oklahoma University School of Law and the American Bar Association (scoring panelist).

Savage was involved with the Oklahoma City University School of Law Alumni Association and the Pi Beta Phi Edmond Alumnae Club.

Savage is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Growing up, her father was a firefighter and her mother worked as a non-profit employee. She and her husband, Malcolm, have four children.
