Judge Christylee L. Peck: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Christylee L. Peck is a judge for the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. She was elected to the bench in November 2011.


During her judicial tenure, Peck has presided over dependency, family, criminal, civil, and orphans’ court matters.


In 2019, she ran for election to the Pennsylvania Superior Court, subsequently losing in the general election on November 5, 2019.


Peck received a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University. She went on to complete a J.D. at Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson Law.


Prior to joining the Court of Common Pleas, Peck had worked as a senior assistant district attorney with the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office since 2005. During that time, she prosecuted violent criminal offenders in cases involving homicides, rapes, robberies, and crimes against children. Before that, she was an assistant district attorney in the Child Abuse Unit of the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office (2003 to 2005). Her legal career also included a two-year stint as an associate at Rhoads & Sinon, LLP in Harrisburg (2001 to 2003).


In addition, she has taught as a faculty member at Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson Law and was a lecturer at the law school’s Child Advocacy Clinic and for Rape Crisis Services of Cumberland County.


Peck sat on the Advisory Board of Pinnacle Health Children’s Resource Center in Harrisburg and on the Board for Dickinson School of Law. She has also served as co-chair of the Legal Representation Workgroup of the Pennsylvania Statewide Children’s Roundtable and as a member of the Board for Pennsylvania Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s Commission on Judicial Independence.


Her other memberships included the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association and its Child Abuse Coalition as well as the Cumberland County Bar Association.


Peck is a graduate of Carlisle Area High School.


She is registered as a Republican.
