Dear Justice Crane:
We represent Plaintiff Samsung Electronics Co., LTD (“Samsung”) in the above-
referenced matter. We write concerning the oral argument scheduled for December 8, 2023 on
Samsung’s Motion For Summary Judgment On Its Breach of Contract Claim and MPEG LA’s
Cross Motion For Summary Judgment (Motion Sequence No. 8). All of the Quinn Emanuel
partners representing Samsung have a conflict on December 8, 2023 and Samsung’s lead attorney,
Mr. Carlinsky, will be in trial in Los Angeles until December 15, 2023. We therefore respectfully
request an adjournment of the oral argument date.
This is Samsung’s first request for an adjournment of the argument date for the pending
motion, and counsel for MPEG LA has no objection to the requested adjournment.
We have conferred with MPEG LA’s counsel about availability for a new date and all
parties will be available at any time on December 19, 2023 or any time before 3:00 pm on
December 20, 2023. Samsung accordingly respectfully requests that the Court adjourn oral
argument for Motion Sequence No. 8 to one of those dates, or to a date thereafter of the Court’s
choosing.
