          17                                                             Procedural Background

          18                  On October 24, 2016, Plaintiff Whittley Arms Association, Inc.

          19       (“Plaintiff”) filed this lawsuit in the Superior Court of California, County

          20       of Los Angeles alleging that Defendant Stephen Pillman (“Defendant”), owner

          21       of a condominium, is liable for assessments and costs under the Covenants,

          22       Conditions, and Restrictions (“CC&Rs”) of the homeowner’s association

          23       (“HOA”).           On April 24, 2018 this case, along with related case 16k13172, went

          24       before the court in a bench trial. On May 25, 2018, a Judgment of Foreclosure

          25       of Real Property Assessment Lien and Judgment for Money was entered against

          26       Defendant.             On December 5, 2019, Plaintiff filed and served by mail a Motion

          27       for Attorneys’ Fees and Costs seeking $19,690 in attorney’s fees along with a

          28       Memorandum of Costs also filed on December 5, 2019.                                                  Defendant opposes this
