Later, the court rules as follows: The Motion re: TO REOPEN THE DISCOVERY MOTION CUTOFF DATE ON AN EXPEDITED BASIS filed by Jorge Polzin on 05/28/2021 is Denied. The discovery and motion deadlines in this case were January 18, and February 1, 2021, respectively. Trial was continued to June 15, 2021 and then to March 7, 2022, due in large part to the difficulties in conducting a jury trial during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On May 28, 2021, plaintiff filed this motion to reopen discovery and extend the motion cut-off date. CCP § 2024.020(a) provides, “Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, any party shall be entitled as a matter of right to complete discovery proceedings on or before the 30th day, and to have motions concerning discovery heard on or before the 15th day, before the date initially set for the trial of the action.” CCP § 2024.050(a) then provides that “On motion of any party, the Minute Order Page 1 of 3
