This is no different than an in-person court appearance. Please “arrive” to the Zoom
meeting promptly at the time listed above and be ready for your case to be called.
Other matters are scheduled for the appointed time. Cases will be called and heard
individually, and those who are not called will wait in the waiting room on Zoom,
just as you would wait in the courtroom. Once you are taken out of the waiting room
by the [Judge/Staff], your case will be called. We appreciate your patience.
Please also ensure your name in Zoom includes both your first and last name. This
will ensure efficient admission to the Zoom meeting.
Rules For Appearing In Court On Zoom
• You Are In Court While You Are Appearing On Zoom (even if only by audio or
telephone link).
o Do not be driving (or you will be removed from the hearing). o Sit still. Do not walk around. o Do not
eat, drink, or smoke while in court. o Watch for notifications, such a request to un-mute yourself. o
Dress appropriately.
MNCIS-PAN-104 STATE Pandemic Notice of Remote Zoom Hearing 11/20
o Use an appropriate screen name. Profanity or other inappropriate references will not be
allowed and will result in removal from the hearing. o Expect to wait for your case to be
called. Just like in-person court.
• Tips For Success
o Check your technology in advance. Do you have a working camera on your device? Does the
microphone work? Consider using earphones or a separate microphone.
o Make sure you have the zoom link ready and in front of you. o Make sure you have enough
battery on your device, or power, for waiting. o Be in a location with decent internet
connection. o Choose a spot where the background is not distracting.
o Choose a spot without a lot of background noise, or it will be hard for the court reporter to
hear you.
o Use your first and last name as your screen name. People who are easy to identify, will have
their cases called earlier than people we can not identify.
o If you are waiting for your hearing, remain on mute and consider turning off your video.
o Speak slowly. Speak clearly. Speak directly at your microphone. These devices weren’t
designed for what we’re asking them to do. It will help the judge and the court reporter hear
you, if you follow these rules.
