On November 17, 2017, Plaintiff Karen Velie (“Velie” or “Plaintiff”) filed this action against Defendants Adam Hill (“Hill”), individually and in his official capacity as a Supervisor of the County of San Luis Obispo, and the County of San Luis Obispo (the “County”) (collectively “Defendants”), alleging five causes of action for (1) Intentional Interference with Prospective Economic Relations; (2) Intentional Interference with Contractual Relations; (3) Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress; (4) Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress; and (5) Violation of State Civil Rights (the “Complaint”).
The County was served with the summons and complaint on December 5, 2018. On February 1, 2019, Defendants filed a timely Special Motion to Strike pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure section 425.16 (Anti-SLAPP). Defendants thereafter filed a demurrer to the Complaint, also on calendar.
