1. Overview and Procedural Posture.

This is a wage and hour case arising in the craft beer business. Plaintiff, claiming to represent a class of non-exempt employees, asserted in the complaint filed in late 2018 that Stone failed to compensate him for all hours he worked during his five-month employment at Stone in 2016. Stone demurred to all eight counts of the complaint. ROA 9-11. The court overruled the demurrer (ROA 24) and Stone thereafter answered (ROA 25). At the CMC on April 26, 2019, the court set the case for a class certification hearing in early 2020. ROA 34-35. However, the parties later filed a stipulation asking that the certification hearing be moved to May, 2020, and the court obliged. ROA 41-42.
