Plaintiffs James M. Lacy and Jacquesha Lacy bring this motion to tax costs. Having obtained a defense verdict, Defendants County of San Diego, Sean Ochos and Don Wood are the prevailing parties, and entitled to an award of recoverable costs. CCP §1032. Defendants submitted a Memorandum of Costs, indicating a total of $23,571.00 in costs. There were no "court-ordered transcripts." Accordingly, defendants have withdrawn the $1,955.00 costs for "court-ordered transcripts."

The charges on Inventus Invoice #INV072510 dated 6/30/19 and Invoice #INV074085 dated 7/28/19 are not for "trial exhibits." These costs, totaling $1,867.89, are taxed.

The charges for copies of exhibits are excessive, especially since only 11 exhibits were introduced at trial. Costs incurred for photocopies of trial exhibits "may be allowed if they were reasonably helpful to aid the trier of fact." CCP §1033.5(a)(13). Costs must also be reasonable in amount.
