Plaintiff Jung Moon is a Korean physician who was a medical resident at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (“Cedars-Sinai”).
In 2018, Plaintiff filed a lawsuit (Case No. BC719381) against Cedars-Sinai, alleging racial discrimination and wrongful termination. Plaintiff at that time was represented by counsel and stipulated to having the matter arbitrated.
On February 21, 2020, Plaintiff, then a self-represented litigant, filed a Petition against Defendant Qin Huang, (“Defendant”) a pathologist and medical director at Cedars-Sinai, alleging causes of action related to her claims in the earlier case cited above.
On April 22, 2020, Defendant filed a motion to compel arbitration and stay the proceedings.
On August 27, 2020, the Court granted Defendant’s motion to compel arbitration and dismissed the matter without prejudice, retaining jurisdiction and waived any reinstatement costs.
