Judge William A. Marshall - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. William A. Marshall (Ret.) was a judge for the 16th Judicial District Circuit Court of Oregon in Douglas County. He was elected to the bench in 2010. Marshall retired in 2022.

During his judicial tenure, he served as Presiding Judge of the 16th Judicial District Circuit Court.

Prior to his election, Marshall presided as a judge pro tem and a juvenile referee for the 16th Judicial District Circuit Court (2007 to 2010).

Before joining the bench, he was the chief deputy district attorney with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office (1989 to 2007). Marshall joined the office as a deputy district attorney in 1987. Over the course of his legal career, he also spent time as county counsel (1985 to 1987) and a deputy district attorney (1980 to 1987) in Curry County.

Marshall received a B.A. in business from Walla Walla University in 1977. He went on to complete a J.D. at Willamette University College of Law in 1980.

Marshall is a past president of the Douglas County Bar Association.
