The Hon. William A. Crowfoot is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown in 2018. He filled the vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Anne H. Egerton to the Court of Appeal.
He is a registered Democrat.
Judge Crowfoot received his B.A. from Haverford College. He went on to earn his J.D. from George Washington University Law School.
Crowfoot began his legal career as an attorney for the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C. in 1981. During his six years there, his practice would center around economic development loans for Central and South America.
Crowfoot then joined the erstwhile law firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky, and Walker in 1987, where he practiced as an associate and of counsel. His areas of practice at the firm involved international lending, secured financing, and investment management.
After eight years at the firm, which would become Paul Hastings LLP, Crowfoot took a hiatus from practicing law to become a bilingual education teacher at Blair High School in Pasadena, California from 1995 to 1997.
He would then rejoin Paul Hastings LLP as a senior associate, where he practiced until 2001.
Judge Crowfoot also served as a city councilman from 1993 to 2001 for the City of Pasadena, California.
Then, in 2003, he became an assistant U.S. Attorney for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California. He would remain in that capacity until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2018. While at the USAO, Crowfoot was assigned to the National Security Division.
Judge Crowfoot, who grew up in Puerto Rico, speaks Spanish fluently.
