The Hon. Victor G. Viramontes is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 2017 by former governor Jerry Brown. He filled the vacancy created by the death of the Hon. Ralph W. Dau (deceased).
He is a registered Democrat.
Judge Viramontes received his B.A. from Stanford University. He went on to earn his J.D. from Yale Law School.
Viramontes began his legal career as an associate at Heller, Ehrman, White, and McAuliffe, where he practiced for one year.
He then left the firm to join the Latino civil rights organization, Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF), as a staff attorney in 2001. After four years there, Viramontes served as a trial attorney at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission until 2008, when he became a senior trial attorney there. He served in that capacity until 2010, when he rejoined MALDEF as national senior counsel. He was serving in that capacity at the time of his appointment to the Superior Court in 2017.
