Judge Torrey J. Bauer: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. Torrey J. Bauer is a judge for the Kosciusko County Superior Court in Indiana. He was elected to the bench on November 4, 2014.

During his judicial tenure, Bauer has served as Presiding Judge of the Kosciusko County Drug Alcohol Program. He is also credited with implementing a system designed to recoup public defender fees incurred by the county and streamlining the way cases move through his court.

Prior to his election, he operated a solo practice, the Bauer Law Office, P.C., in Warsaw. Before establishing his firm, Bauer was an attorney at the Lavender Law Offices and Lavender & Bauer, P.C.

He received a bachelor’s degree from Grace College in 1986. Bauer went on to complete a J.D. at Indiana University School of Law in 1991. He was admitted to practice in Indiana (1991) and the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana (1991).

Bauer served on the Indiana Supreme Court Domestic Violence Committee and Courthouse Security Committee. He also served as a member of the Executive Committee and the board of the Kosciusko County Community Corrections Program.

From a civic standpoint, Bauer was involved with the boards of the Kosciusko Right To Life, the Right to Life of Northern Indiana, and the Heartline Pregnancy Center. He also served on the Combined Community Athletic Complex board and taught Business Law as an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech Community College.

His wife, Julie, is the Dean of Students at Lakeland Christian Academy. They have two children.

Bauer is registered as a Republican.
