Judge Timothy L. Ashcraft - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Timothy L. Ashcraft is a judge for the Pierce County Superior Court in Washington. He was elected to the bench in November 2016.

Ashcraft received a B.S. in business administration from California State University, Northridge in 1987. He then worked for several years as a computer consultant before completing a J.D. at Baylor University School of Law in 1996.

Ashcraft began his legal career as an attorney at Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell, Malanca, Peterson & Daheim, PLLC. He was later named a partner in 2001 and continued his practice there until 2005. Ashcraft then joined Williams, Kastner & Gibbs, PLLC as a senior attorney and was named a partner in the firm in 2007.

In 2015, he became a principal at Fain Anderson VanDerhoef Rosendahl O’Halloran Spillane, PLLC, where he handled a variety of litigation matters including environmental, commercial litigation, personal injury, medical negligence, premises liability, products liability, and appeals. Ashcraft remained in practice with the firm until his election to the Superior Court.

His memberships included the Superior Court Judges Association, the Washington State Bar Association, the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers (Board of Trustees).

Ashcraft served on the Pierce County Superior Court Rules Committee and Criminal Law Committee as well as the Washington State Bar Rules Committee.

He led the Bible Quizzing program at the Lighthouse Christian Center and taught parenting classes there for fifteen years.

Ashcraft is married and has six children. At the time of his election to the bench, he resided in Puyallup.
