Biography

The Hon. Thomas Feinman (Ret.) served as a justice on the Nassau County Supreme Court in the 10th Judicial District of New York. Feinman was elected to the bench on November 4, 2003. He retired in 2020.

Prior to his election, Feinman was a judge on the Nassau County District Court, a position to which he was named in 1998. Before that, he was an attorney at Annibale & Feinman (1980 to 1997) and Sale, Groothuis & Feinman (1979 to 1980).

Feinman earned a B.A. in history and education from Hofstra University in 1972. He then completed a J.D. at Hofstra University, Maurice A. Deane School of Law, in 1975. He was licensed to practice in New York (1976).

After graduating from law school, Feinman began his legal career as an attorney at Dalton & Henoch. He worked in that capacity until 1977, at which time he became an assistant district attorney with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office.

His memberships have included the New York State Supreme Court Judges Association, the Nassau County District Court Judges Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, the Former District Attorney’s Association, and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers.

He is a recipient of the George M. Estabrook Distinguished Service Award from Hofstra University (2003) and the President’s Award from the Court Officers Benevolent Association of Nassau County (2000).

Feinman is registered as a Democrat.
