Biography

The Hon. Thomas C. Bordeaux, Jr. is a judge for the Chatham County Probate Court in Georgia. He was elected to the bench on May 24, 2016, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Harris Lewis.

Prior to his election, Bordeaux was the owner of the Law Offices of Tom Bordeaux, where he specialized in personal injury, fiduciary, and tort and insurance law matters. Before that, he spent time as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives (1990 to 2006) and an alderman-at-large on the Savannah City Council. During his tenure as a State Representative, Bordeaux represented the 162nd District, the 125th District, and the 151st District.

Bordeaux earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Georgia in 1975. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Georgia School of Law in 1979.

He is a recipient of the Robbie E. Robinson Award from the Savannah Bar Association, the Friend of Medicine Award from the Medical Association of Georgia, the Outstanding Legislator Award from the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the Friend of Labor Award from Georgia Organized Labor, and the Outstanding Legislator Award from the Georgia Council on Aging.

Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Bordeaux attended Savannah High School. His wife, Rev. Nelle Bordeaux, is an associate minister at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church. They have two children.

He is registered as a Democrat.
