Biography

The Hon. Theodore Tollefson is a magistrate for the Ada County Magistrate Court in Idaho. He was appointed to the bench by the District Magistrate Commission of the 4th Judicial District in 2019.

The 4th Judicial District includes Ada, Boise, Elmore, and Valley Counties. Tollefson has held an assignment in Ada County.

Prior to his appointment, worked in the appellate section of the criminal law division with the Idaho Attorney General’s Office. Before that, Tollefson handled family, bankruptcy, commercial litigation, and criminal law matters in private practice, including at Holland & Hart, LLP in Boise.

He received a B.S. in psychology from the University of Idaho. Tollefson then completed a J.D. at the University of Oregon School of Law.

He received the Denise O’Donnell Day Pro Bono Award from the Idaho State Bar in 2015.
