The Hon. Tanya Garrisons is a judge of the One Hundred Fifty-Seventh District Court in Harris County, Texas. Her current term ends in 2022.
Garrison was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1997 and the University of Houston Law Center in 2000.
Garrison practiced law at Weycer, Kaplan, Pulaski & Zuber, P.C. until she was elected judge of the 157th in 2018. Garrisons law practice consisted entirely of civil litigation with an emphasis on appellate law.
She is a proud member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Garrison was elected in 2008 as President of the Houston Young Lawyers Association, and in 2011 she was named the Woodrow B. Seals Outstanding Young Lawyer. Garrison has served on the board of various organizations providing pro bono legal services to low income Houstonians. Her best test of patience and organization was serving as the Cookie Mom for four years for her daughters Girl Scout troop.
Garrison helps with her husbands championship BBQ cook-off team. She is a fan of the Houston Texans and the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Garrison is a Democrat.
