Biography

The Hon. Tammy D. Geathers is a judge for the New Britain Judicial District Superior Court in Connecticut. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Dannel Malloy on March 14, 2014.

Geathers has held assignments as the Presiding Judge for the Hartford Community Court.

Prior to her appointment, Geathers was an assistant attorney general in the Employment Rights Department of the Connecticut Office of the Attorney General, a position to which she was selected in 1998. Before that, she was an assistant public defender for the City of Atlanta Public Defender's Office (1995 to 1997) and the State of Connecticut Public Defender's Office (1989 to 1995).

Geathers earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and government from Howard University in 1984. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1987.

She was a resident of Bloomfield, Connecticut, at the time of her appointment.
