The Hon. Taki V. Flevaris is a judge for the King County Superior Court in Washington. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Jay Inslee on October 24, 2022, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Mike Diaz to the Washington State Court of Appeals.
Prior to his appointment, Flevaris was a partner at Pacifica Law Group, a law firm he joined in 2013. During his tenure there, he handled a wide range of matters, specializing in governmental, constitutional, policy, regulatory, and compliance issues. He supplemented his practice with service as a faculty affiliate with the Fred T. Korematsu Center for Law and Equality at Seattle University School of Law.
Flevaris earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Northwestern University in 2004. He spent the next few years coaching speech and debate at Reed College and studying flamenco guitar. Then, in 2009, he completed a J.D. at Harvard Law School. As a law student, he sat on the submissions committee for the Journal of Law and Technology.
He is licensed to practice in Washington (2010), the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington, and the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.
After graduating from law school, Flevaris began his legal career as an associate at K&L Gates, where he handled antitrust, bankruptcy, contract, intellectual property, real estate, and taxation matters. He remained with the firm until 2011, at which time he became a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Steven C. González of the Washington State Supreme Court.
His memberships have included the King County Bar Association. He has also been involved with the board of Your House Boxing & Community Club, and he has served on the Washington Supreme Court Jury Selection Workgroup and the Task Force on Race and the Criminal Justice System.
He is a recipient of the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the King County Bar Association (2016),
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Flevaris is the son of Greek immigrants. When not presiding over legal proceedings, he enjoys playing basketball and supporting the Portland Trail Blazers. Flevaris and his spouse have two children.
