Biography

The Hon. Steven B. Whittington is a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott in 2015, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Lawrence Page Haddock, Jr.

The 4th Judicial Circuit encompasses Clay County, Duval County, and Nassau County. Whittington has held assignments in Clay County, presiding over cases in the Family Division.

Whittington earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida in 1991. He then completed a J.D. at Florida State University College of Law in 1995.

After graduating from law school, Whittington began his legal career as a criminal defense attorney in Tallahassee. Then, in 2002, he relocated to Jacksonville, working alongside his father-in-law, James Thies, at the firm that would become Whittington & Culbert.
