Judge Stephan G. Saleson - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Stephan G. Saleson (Ret.) was a judge for the San Bernardino County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on February 1, 2006, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Dennis G. Cole. Saleson retired on March 1, 2021.

He earned a B.A. from Michigan State University in 1973. Saleson then completed a J.D. from Pepperdine University, Rick J. Caruso School of Law in 1976.

He began his legal career in 1977. Saleson first served as a deputy district attorney with the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office (1977 to 1980).

Three years later, he left the public sector, accepting a position as an associate at Gresham, Varner, Savage, Nolan & Tilden. He practiced in that capacity until 1997 when he was eventually named partner. That same year, he joined Varner, Saleson & Brandt as a partner. Over the course of his legal career, Saleson specialized in state and federal civil litigation, labor and employment law, as well as OSHA law.

His memberships have included the San Bernardino County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Saleson was born in East Lansing, Michigan. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1971.
