Biography

The Hon. Scott A. Steiner is a judge on the Orange County Superior Court in California. He was elected to the bench on June 8, 2010, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Margaret Anderson.

Steiner earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Irvine, in 1996. He then completed a J.D. at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 1999. Steiner also pursued an LL.M. in prosecutorial sciences at Chapman University, Dale E. Fowler School of Law.

He was licensed to practice in California (1999).

After graduating from law school, Steiner began his legal career as a deputy district attorney in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. He worked in that capacity until his election to the bench, holding assignments in the Special Prosecutions Unit and the Gang Unit.

His memberships have included the City of Orange Planning Commission. He has also taught California Evidence and Criminal Procedure at Chapman University.

Steiner was born and raised in Orange, California, where he attended Villa Park High School. He is the son of William G. Steiner, a former chairman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors. A married father with two children, Steiner enjoys running, often participating in ultra-marathons throughout the state.
