Judge Sally A. McLaughlin: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. Sally A. McLaughlin is a judge for the Dearborn County Superior Court in Indiana. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mitch Daniels in 2006.

During her judicial tenure, McLaughlin has been involved with the Jail Chemical Addiction Program (JCAP).

Prior to her appointment, she was the Prosecuting Attorney for the Seventh Judicial Circuit.

She received an A.A. and a B.S. from Eastern Kentucky University and an M.S. in nursing from the University of Cincinnati. McLaughlin then served as a manager of patient services at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, a staff nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, and the Director of Nursing at Dearborn County Hospital before completing a J.D. at Northern Kentucky University, Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 1990.

She is also a graduate of the Indiana Graduate Program for Judges and the Indiana Judicial College.

McLaughlin has sponsored an annual Leadership in Law Program for high school students and summer internships for law students.

She was recognized as a Woman of Distinction by the Dearborn County Chamber of Commerce (2006) and is the recipient of the Martin Luther King Memorial Award (2011).

McLaughlin was raised in Dearborn County, where she attended St. Lawrence School and Lawrenceburg High School.

She is registered as a Republican.
