Judge Ryan W. Hill: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Ryan W. Hill is a judge for the 371st District Court in Tarrant County, Texas. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Greg Abbott on March 23, 2022.

Prior to his appointment, Hill was the Chief Prosecutor of Criminal Mental Health Crossover for the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.

Hill earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Baylor University. He then completed a J.D. at St. Mary's University School of Law in 2008. He is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

After graduating from law school, Hill began his legal career as an assistant county attorney for the Hood County Attorney’s Office. He also spent time as an assistant district attorney with the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office.

His memberships have included the Federalist Society, the Tarrant County Bar Association, the Texas District & County Attorneys Association, and the Eldon B. Mahon American Inn of Court. He has also been involved with the Rotary Club of Fort Worth and the Colleyville Lions Club.

A self-identified constitutional conservative, Hill launched his campaign for re-election on a staunchly pro-life platform. He has also expressed his commitment to defend Second Amendment rights.

He is registered as a Republican.
