Judge Russell D. Bailey: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Russell D. Bailey is a judge for the Jasper County Superior Court in Indiana. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Eric Holcomb on November 30, 2017, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. James R. Ahler to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Indiana.

Prior to his appointment, Bailey was a sole practitioner in his own private practice, a law firm he opened in 2014. Before that, he spent time as an attorney at Dumas & Mahnesmith (2012 to 2014).

Bailey earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Indiana University Northwest in 1996. He then completed a J.D. at Valparaiso University School of Law in 2001.

After graduating from law school, Bailey entered into private practice at Zeddun & Pfeifer in Indianapolis. He spent the following year representing debtors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings before joining the Indiana Department of Revenue. During his tenure there, he performed a brief stint as a trust tax officer at JPMorgan Chase (2008 to 2009).

Raised in Wheatfield, Indiana, Bailey currently resides in DeMotte, Indiana.
