Judge Ronald W. Flury: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Ronald W. Flury is a judge for the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was elected to the bench in 2018.


The 2nd Judicial Circuit encompasses Franklin County, Gadsden County, Jefferson County, Leon County, Liberty County, and Wakulla County. Flury has held assignments in Wakulla County, presiding over civil, criminal, family, and probate matters. He has also handled appeals from the Wakulla County Court.


Prior to his election, Flury was a judge for the Leon County Court, a position to which he was named in 2006. During his tenure there, he served on the Drug Court, the Mental Health Court, and the Veterans Stand Down Court.


Flury completed a J.D. at Florida State University College of Law.


He is a recipient of the Iris Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the Humanitarian Award from the Martin Luther King Foundation of Florida, and the Parks and Crump Thurgood Marshall Judicial Excellence Award.


Flury has been married to Theresa A. Flury, an attorney who has served in the Office of the Public Defender as well as the Office of the State Attorney for the 2nd Judicial Circuit. They are members of the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
