Biography

The Hon. Roberto A. Vazquez is a judge for the Bexar County Justice of the Peace Court (Precinct 2, Place 1) in Texas. He joined the bench in 2013.

Prior to this judicial role, he worked for eighteen years as a private practice attorney. During part of this time, Vazquez presided for seven years as a municipal judge for the City of San Antonio. He also spent time as a commissioner of the City of San Antonio Zoning Commission and as chief of staff to then-Texas Representative Orlando L. Garcia.

He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Vazquez then completed a J.D. at Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, in 1994. He was admitted to practice in Texas (1995).

Vazquez is a past president of the Neighborhood Association.

He was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, the youngest of five siblings. Vazquez grew up in the Beacon Hill neighborhood on West Huisache, where he attended Beacon Hill Elementary, Mark Twain Middle School, and Edison High School. He and his wife, Karen, raised two children.

He is registered as a Democrat.
