Biography

The Hon. Robert L. Genuario is a judge trial referee for the Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District Superior Court in Connecticut. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jodi Rell in 2010.

Prior to his appointment, Genuario was a partner at Genuario & Conover, a law firm he joined in 1993. He supplemented his practice with service as a senator for the Connecticut State Senate (1990 to 2004) and the Secretary for the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management (2005 to 2010).

Genuario earned a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University in 1974. He then completed a J.D. at Villanova University, Charles Widger School of Law in 1977.

After graduating from law school, Genuario began his legal career as a law clerk for the Connecticut Superior Court. He served in that capacity until 1978, at which time he became a partner at Busek, Kavanewsky & Genuario.

His memberships have included the Connecticut Bar Association, the Norwalk Jaycees, and the Norwalk Lions Club. He also sat on the Board of Trustees of the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium, the Stepping Stones Children’s Museum, the Child Guidance Center, and the Honey Hill Nursing Home.

A resident of Norwalk, Connecticut, Genuario and his wife, MaryAnn, have four sons.

He is registered as a Republican.
