Biography

The Hon. Robert A. Scandurra (Ret.) was First Justice of the Barnstable County Probate and Family Court in Massachusetts. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Bill Weld in 1994. Scandurra retired in 2018.


He had served as first justice on the Probate and Family Court in Barnstable County since 2008.


At the time of his appointment, Scandurra was a private practice attorney. He had worked in that capacity since graduating from law school in 1974. His areas of practice during that time included domestic relations and probate and estate law.


Scandurra received a B.A. from Ithaca College in 1971. He then completed a J.D. at the New England School of Law in 1974.


His memberships included the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Barnstable County Bar Association, and the Boston Bar Association.


From a civic standpoint, Scandurra served as a participant with the Legal Services of Cape Cod & the Islands Homeless Advocacy Program, a member of the Supplemental Lawyer Referral Program, and a past director of the Trinity School of Cape Cod (past vice-chairman of the Board of Trustees) and the Cape Cod Women’s Credit Union.


After retiring from the bench, he became a panelist at South Eastern Mediation and Arbitration, Inc.


Scandurra was born in Jackson Heights, New York.
