Biography

The Hon. Robert A. Glusman (Ret.) served as a judge for the Butte County Superior Court in California. Glusman was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis in 2002. He retired on January 20, 2021.


Over the course of his judicial career, Glusman presided over criminal, family law, civil, and probate matters. He sat as the Supervising Judge of the Civil Division (2012 to 2013), Assistant Presiding Judge of the Court (2015, 2018), Presiding Judge of the Collaborative Courts (2016 to 2017), and Presiding Judge of the Court (2016 to 2017).


Glusman earned a B.A. in history from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1972. He then completed a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1976.


Prior to his appointment to the bench, Glusman worked as a sole practitioner in his own private practice for twenty-five years. During this time, he specialized in family law matters, receiving his certification as a Family Law Specialist.


Glusman has served as president of the California Judges Association and the Butte County Bar Association. He also sat on the Board of Directors of Legal Services of Northern California and the Work Training Center as well as the Committee on Professional Responsibility & Competence and the Resolutions Committee of the California State Bar.


He has taught ethics at Cal Northern School of Law.


Glusman was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. However, when he was nine years old, he moved with his family to Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Ulysses S. Grant High School in San Fernando Valley. Glusman and his wife, Marsha, have three children.
