Hon. Richard J. Nocella is a judge for the Vicinage 3 Superior Court in Burlington County in New Jersey. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Chris Christie in 2015.
During his judicial tenure, Nocella has held an assignment in the Family Division in Burlington County. He was named presiding judge of the Family Part, Chancery Division in 2017.
Prior to his appointment, Nocella had operated a private practice in Marlton for over ten years. In addition to that, he acted as a public defender in the Township of Evesham.
Nocella received a bachelor’s degree from La Salle University in 1992. He went on to complete a J.D. at Widener University, Delaware Law School (1997) and an LL.M. in taxation from Villanova University, Charles Widger School of Law.
Nocella was admitted to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
His memberships have included the Burlington County Bar Association and the Burlington County Bar Foundation.
Nocella is a graduate of Cherokee High School (1988).
