The Hon. Rachel Cano is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. She was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown on December 24, 2016, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Marshall Y. Hockett.

Prior to her appointment to the bench, Cano served as a deputy district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of San Diego County. She worked in this capacity for more than two decades, specializing in the prosecution of sex crimes. She eventually rose to Chief of the South Bay Branch Office.
She is registered as a Democrat.
After her mother passed away from cancer, Cano joined the San Diego Professionals Against Cancer. As a member, she co-founded the San Diego Festival of Beer in 1994, an annual festival organized to raise funds in the fight against cancer.
Cano was classmates with President Barack Obama at Harvard Law School.
In her spare time, Cano enjoys wandering the local farmer's market, walking to the Waterfront Park with her dogs, visiting friends, and watching football.
